SECOND STOREY ADDITIONS

To whom it may Concern,

Upon arduous decision making as to how we were going to extend our home, and making our minds up finally we approached several builders for their advice and assistance. We requested their help in working out how we could achieve our ultimate goal of adding a few rooms to our outgrown and far too small home. Our first home was built with a small budget and allowances for our growing family had not come into consideration. The lack of a dining room, and not enough rooms to accommodate our family and its growth, tested both our patience and energy. With our twin 15-year-old boys requiring a room of their own, and our once small study, which had become our young daughter’s room, we needed to rethink and try to come up with a solution.

After several months of being told various reasons by various builders as to why we were not able to build a second level, on our small home and our only solution was to add a couple of rooms. We became a little disheartened and figured that our ideas of being able to extend our home was not ever going to happen. Some builders just said it was too hard. Some wanted thousands of dollars up front just to have a look at our existing home and see what, if anything could be done with no guarantee that they could do it. Several builders told us alternatives that we simply did not like or want to do, in the aim of turning us off our ideas, as they gave us the impression that what we wanted would mean a lot of hard work to the builder.

Until one day, one of the builders I had called and left a message for, called me back.

Mike Mellare from Complete Home Extensions was friendly and approachable and listened to everything I had to say right from the first phone call. His attitude and Can Do approach was infectious from the onset. I was impressed from the first phone call and even had some of my enthusiasm for extending our home renewed.

Mike’s works were stuck in my head for days. He said, “Leave it with me, anything can be done with a little bit of thinking outside the box”. With our house plans and our ideas in mind, he spent many hours of his own time and cost, consulting engineers, draftsman, etc., and came back to me several weeks later with plans of how we could achieve our dream of extending our home and adding another level.

Our small home was constructed with a waffle pod slab, and steel frame construction, which caused complications in themselves, as building a second level structure on these two construction materials was not going to be possible for several reasons, one being the weight of the second level structure could not be supported by our existing construction.

At this point we would like to add, that with all the complications involved in this construction, and the difficult hurdles that were going to need to be crossed, we assumed that costs involved in this new construction would be far too outrageous for us to even contemplate.

We had in the previous months gone down a different path of looking into purchasing a home in our area. However, when the costs of purchasing a home big enough to accommodate our needs seemed to be in $500,000.00+ price bracket, we decided building a new home with the space we wanted and needed possibly the next option. To our surprise, this too was going to be costing us in the same dollar region as buying an established home. We had almost given up on ever being able to achieve our goal of expanding.

However, Mike and his Complete Home Extensions team came up with a plan that defied every other builder’s opinions previously consulted. We later met Chris, Mike’s son and partner, and with all the plans ready to go, their team of builders were gearing up to start on our new renovation. The team turned up on day one, and from the onset they impressed us with their work ethic, as our home was being prepped and ready to become a bigger, more flexible, more spacious and with storage that was going to be absolutely perfect for our family.

The Complete Home Extensions team turned up on day one with a great attitude and were all so friendly and ready to start our home on August 4^th 2015. The builders team lead by Bruce (Supervisor), were always hard working, and happy to answer my myriad of questions. Every day, it was a pleasure to turn up to the construction site and see what was being done and what had changed in the growing construction. Even on the most trialling days of construction, the team were always professional and worked extremely hard, and always made time to acknowledge us and talk about my questions we had. The team always had a positive, uplifting, friendly and approachable manner. The builders were always ready to offer suggestions for slight changes that could be made or helpful ideas that could be tweaked to improve the construction along the way.

Within four weeks, we were able to see how the second level of construction was going to look. The construction was moving fast, and the team of builders, and Bruce (Supervisor) kept us informed of every new stage. It was wonderful that we were always aware of what was happening during that week.

Now that we have our newly renovated home completed, we are ever so pleased with how things have transpired over those 4 and a half months. Everything ran smoothly from our perspective. If there were problems, we were not aware of them, as the team always had everything under control and handled everything professionally.

We would like to thank wholeheartedly, Mike Mellare, Chris Mellare, Bruce and All the staff, from the builders to the office staff, (Thanks Deb for all your patience, understanding and unwavering help) and to all the behind the scenes people from Complete Home Extensions for all their amazing efforts and hard work. It was not an easy task getting this project to happen. But Ashley and I are so pleased that we chose Complete Home Extensions for our project and completely recommend this company to anyone for all your building needs. This company has other divisions of its company, such as Add A Dek, that come highly recommended by other people that we contacted regarding previous work done by this company. Every single person we contacted regarding work done by these guys always gave us 110% recommendation.

As an added bonus, the Complete Home Extension group added some final touches to our house at their own expense, and made sure that our comfort in our new home was complete. They made sure that we had everything we needed and completed, so we could move into our home as soon as it was ready.

So now, it is our turn. We want to spread the word to as many people as we can about this fantastic company. We are so very happy with all areas of the construction, advice and the final building results from Complete Home Extensions, and can totally recommend them for all your building needs, whether it be large or small.
